The Tunnel by imagen The Tunnel by imagen
Sammib [link] & I spent many a time by this man made tunnel. Lots of fond memories. We grew up in a town that's famous for it's gold mining. This tunnel is one of the few reminants of the mighty gold rush days in our town. When gold was first discovered they wanted to sift the banks of the Yarra, however they couldn't because the water level was too high. So they mined out this tunnel to drop them. Later I believe it was for transporting goods in the Summer Months.

When I was taking this shot, a guy came up to me & told me that a person had died recently trying to paddle thru it in their Kyak. This didn't come as any surprise to me. I told the guy that whoever they were, they certainly weren't the first. I told the guy how we had paddled thru it. Also told him that the only time to do that is in the middle of summer when the water levels are at their lowest & definately not without a helmet. Mind you I think we did it on Blow-up Matresses. Little bogans that we were. :P

Hey i know this tunnel....is this at the little river like 15 mins walk down the 1st road from our old house??? the road with the chicken letterbox and you go across the grass in which a goat once lived and down yet another road to a path that led down to the water and there was a log to sit on???
that made no sense...maybe you understand anyway this is lovely. When did you visit it?

Thanks for the :+fav: Sam. Was kinda nice being down there again. You probabley know this but the whole road is paved now. All the way down to the State Park entrance. Your old house looks odd. It's Orange! Bastards - we'll never be able to buy it back now! :P

Again. Fabulous. And I loved the story ... I'm beginning to see the mental inner-workings of the boy-imagen. ;-) But tell me - how do you manage to stay so balanced between landscape and cityscape? Most artists can pull off one or the other, but never both, or if both, not nearly as brilliantly and equally as you. Thoughts???

Um, maybe it's a love of both. I really like architecture & the concepts of building, regardless of size. I grew up in a place most people would call a country town but I now live in an inner city suburb. The rest of my family now live in a country town. I think it's a just a stange mix of observation & personal lifestyle & an appreciation of what both have to offer.
